Today I replaced the valve cover gasket now I can drive it with out getting high on burning oil fumes. there was only 7 10mm bolts in total. it took me all of 10 mins to change. And to think they drove it like that for over a year SHAME ON THEM!

let's make a tally:

Vehicle Purchase: $1.00 (minimum purchase amount at DMV)

valve cover gasket: $28.99

Total investment so far: $29.99

Did you use silicone to seal the little crevices that the gasket doesn't reach? Oil likes to leak out there. Like this:

I did not. I probably should have. if it starts to leak again I will silicone it.

I try no to add unnecessary silicone because I've seen the mess it can do. I've witnessed so many cars where people try to use silicone instead of a gasket.

Hopefully the gasket will hold.
